Dear Friends,
I’m Paul Madrid. I’m running to be your next County Commissioner.
’m deeply connected to our District. My grandfather ranched this land all his life, and from him I learned lessons that still guide me today: always strive to do better, be better, and never shy away from hard work. He showed me what it means to do hard, grueling labor and day out, and how neighbors must work together to maintain fences, water systems,, and roads. These values are the foundation of who I am.
I’m a sixth-generation rancher. My family owns Circle B Ranch, where we work seven days a week with our horses, from "can see to can't see," to keep the cattle fed and the land healthy. Our cows don't care if there's a big game on TV or if it's hailing outside. The work must be done every day. On a ranch, when something goes wrong, we take responsibility and fix it. That’s a big part of who I am.
From the semi-urban areas of Corrales, Bernalillo, and Placitas to the distinctly rural character of Sandia Pueblo and La Madera, our District has so many unique communities, each with their own set of challenges. And each deserves thoughtful, committed representation.
I’ve worked and lived in this area for almost my entire life. As a Commissioner for the Cabezon Livestock Pipeline Association, I helped lead the effort to bring water to Cabezon and San Luis. As the President of the Bernalillo Public School Board, I work with families across the district to strengthen our public schools and support our students.
I would be honored to represent the families of District 1 as your next County Commissioner. I understand the different character and diverse needs of our communities, and I am relentless in my commitment to improving the quality of life for the families who live here. No matter which part of the district you live in, I know we share similar values: working hard, doing the right thing even when no one is watching, stewardship of our land, protection of our families, and resilience.
That's how I was brought up, and that's what I've done my entire professional career.
I hope to meet you and your family over the course of my campaign. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime.
Sincerely,
Paul
